Photographer Angelika Buettner’s Mission To Portray Ageless Beauty and Empower Mature Women
Over the past 7 years, award-winning photographer Angelika Buettner has captured tasteful nude photography of 121 women aged 40 to 99 years old with the goal of empowering women and portraying ageless authentic beauty.
During her career as a professional beauty and fashion photographer, Angelika has seen the lack of mature women being represented in the industry and how stereotypes about aging and beauty are still very much present today.
Angelika uses her camera as a therapeutic tool and instrument of social commentary. Her book celebrates women over the age of 40 and lets their voices be heard through essays, quotes and poems about their personal journeys. She spotlights her subjects’ inner un-retouched beauty without ignoring their sensuality.
“With this book I want to create a movement of continuous discussions around aging and beauty, that we must accept who we are and embrace the beautiful journey of life with all our imperfections. I hope it expands the definition of beauty for future generations and for all women and men to understand.”

The book is complemented with a series of interviews and videos, giving the women portrayed a safe platform to share their stories around aging and beauty. The final product is a cross-generational collaboration that touches on universal issues.
Angelika was born and raised in Germany. She studied photography in Frankfurt where she began a career in fashion and advertising. After living and working in Paris for over 20 years, she now resides with her husband near New York City.
Known for her love of artistic challenge and variety, she carefully chooses her teams to create moods in an always atmospherical way. To add a little spice and sensuality in spreads for magazines and advertisements, her photography instills cinematography within still images.
Angelika’s female fashion photography is a combination of femininity, elegance and an amazingly delicate depth that will always leave viewers eager for more.
Unsurprisingly, Angelika's approach to strong feminine sensual photography and sensitive lighting has attracted a number of international and well-known clients including Audi, Bacardi, Douglas, Frey Wille, L'Oreal, Maybelline, Swarovski, and Wolford, just to mention a few.
