Tony Award nominated Broadway actor Nick Cordero passed away on July 5, 2020 from complications of COVID-19 but not before putting up a heroic fight for his life with the loving and determined support of his amazing wife Amanda Kloots who chronicled his ups and downs fighting the disease for over three months on Instagram. Tragically, they lost the battle. A beautiful life cut short by a terrible disease still terrorizing our world.
Nick not only leaves behind his wife but also his son Elvis who just turned 1 in June. The young widow and mother tells followers about her grief on Instagram while also running a fitness business and raising a child. You can follow her emotional journey on Instagram under amandakloots.
Nick’s death at only 41 years old makes us realize how precious and fragile life is and reminds us to be thankful for every day because in one second our entire life could change. Nick’s song Live Your Life became a ritual every day at 3 pm when his friends and fans would Instagram their dance videos to his tune to cheer him on in the fight for his life.
In 2018, while doing reviews of Broadway shows for the Hedonist Magazine, I was fortunate to experience Nick’s on-stage talent playing Sonny in the musical A Bronx Tale.

A Bronx Tale was the longest running musical in the Longacre Theatre history. Nick’s friends have launched an effort now to rename the Longacre Theatre to “The Nick Cordero Theater.”
As legendary actor Chazz Palminteri, the creator of A Bronx Tale and a close friend of Nick Cordero said in his Instagram tribute to Nick, according to philosophers a person dies three times. First when his last breath leaves his body, second time when his soul leaves the body and the third time when his name is mentioned for the last time.

The novel coronavirus is still ravaging lives. Please act responsibly and practice social distancing as well as wearing a mask to help save lives. Also, please learn how to properly wear and handle a mask. It could make all the difference in getting sick or not. Nick may have been infected by a person who was asymptomatic and didn’t even know he/she had this highly contagious virus. We all would love to get back to our lives and do the things we love, and that day will come, but for now, please protect yourself and others because if you don’t it could result in someone’s death.
